Real

Yesterday I went to see this music theatre show starring a friend of mine - don't they just look gorgeous??

It's a spoof on their actual real-life girls band, Daughters of Real, with a very self-ironic twist; a band so full of them self due to all the crazy fame they experience - they have been asked to the white house, for instance, because Obama is just crazy about them (!!), but they begin arguing about a drum pattern and the whole scene ends in a huge fight, reeking of jealousy and hurt feelings.

I loved it, and was very surprised with the music as well. My friend has always talked about it as something she does just for fun, because they supposedly were terrible musicians - but they were not! They all had fantastic voices and the texts and melodies were very well-composed. It's that Danish 'Jantelov', I think.

If you're in Copenhagen, you can still make the last show ever (yes, it's true) tonight at nine at Husets Teater, Halmtorvet 9 - it's performed in American, so you don't have to be a Dane to enjoy it.

Have a great weekend!

Up in the air

The other day the airplanes had for some reason (probably something with the wind, it was very windy that day) found another route to the airport. Normally they don't come my way, but that day they did AND they came very close to my window (on the fifth floor, but still).

I could hear them every five minutes and keept looking every time. A bit compulsive maybe.

I especially love the seagull on the second photo; it looks like it's mimicking what the big bird is doing. Very cute.

Here's a great song from Brother Ali about fresh air and another one from Local Natives about airplanes.

Have a great weekend!

On the Radio

I have three radios, one in each room  - it's very convenient. I have just added a clock radio to my all-year-wishlist, since it's sometimes too hard to turn off the alarm AND turn on the radio when you're not really awake. But I'm sure waking up to that warm and fuzzy radio talk will help me in the mornings. A lot.

Radio is my greatest news source, since you can do other things at the same time, and most days I don't have the time to read the whole news paper. What I like about a good old FM radio is what I like about television too; you can't necessarily chose and you don't have to either! I find it very relaxing not having to chose between all the fantastic programmes made each day.

Ungtblod made a really good podcast guide some time ago, which made me want to do podcasting more, though. And I will. Soon.

Anyways, I love my three radios. I have very strong feelings for the first one; a treasure from the flea market given to me by my friend Kristian.

The second one is also beautiful (especially the wooden cover on the speaker), but it's actually Rasmus', so I treat it like a "cared-for-but-not-deeply-loved"-step daughter.

The third one is quite ugly, really, and the reception is bad, but until I get my clock radio, it has to stay.

A whole different association is how the word 'radio' always reminds me of the Donna Summer song "On the Radio", which is perfect for friday afternoons - here is a fantastic live version (especially the intro) from - take a deep breath - MY birth year!

Have a great weekend!

Few of my favorite things

Picture 1: A coffee mill bought at Mauer Markt in Prenzlauerberg in Berlin from a lady specializing in buying, separating, sharpening, and putting coffee mills back together again. Isn't it pretty?

Picture 2: Rasmus and I travelled in Japan last summer and bought all kinds of strange, stupid, and useless things back home: a book with 101 vegetable faces (it's surprising how many actually look like me); a cheap sake bought from a kiosk (we were drawn to it because we saw a japanese chef drink it with his back toward us, facing the wall, before he rushed inside the restaurant again); a helping hand for those of us, who hate getting our fingers greasy when we eat chips (the box had three sales points: 1: no greasy fingers 2: no greasy table due to the holder underneath 3: no crushed chips, since it doesn't close tight around the chip, but just holds on to it).

Picture 3: A salt bowl with a very tiny spoon. My mother gave it to me, I think it used to belong to my great grandmother. I'm a bit clumsy, so there is often more salt on the table before I reach the plate, but it's good practise.

Ps. Sundays are perfect for watching Sound of Music or, alternatively, listen to one of my favourite recordings of My Favorite Things from the album After Hours.
